Intervention at UNESCO on AI Governance: Towards a Fair, Transparent, and Rights-Based Global Framework
This intervention by Derechos Digitales responds to the Co-Chairs’ Draft Note by emphasizing the urgent need to rebalance the AI governance narrative. While acknowledging the Dialogue as a key opportunity for inclusivity, this contribution highlights three pillars for the thematic agenda: overcoming Global South underrepresentation, establishing rigorous human rights-based oversight mechanisms to prevent harm, and expanding the governance scope to include the often-overlooked environmental and labor impacts of the AI lifecycle.
