The Internet WE Want: Perspectives from the Amazonian Region

The 18th meeting of the Internet Governance Forum will be held from Sunday October 8th to Thursday October 12th 2023 in Kyoto Japan. Derechos Digitales is very thrilled to invite you to our Day-0 session “The Internet WE Want: Perspectives from the Amazonian Region”.

The session will be held on October 8th, between 9:00 and 10:00 AM , in the Workshop Room 11 of the Kyoto International Conference Center, with the participation of Vladimir Garay (Derechos Digitales), Carlos Baca (Rhizomatica) and Camila Leite (Idec). It would be really great if you could join us!

During the session we will present some of the results of the “Latin American in a Glimpse: Amazonia” report, and we will discuss topics like technological autonomy, the importance of participatory decision-making processes for adopting connectivity plans, and the role of community networks as a viable alternative to commercial ISPs services.

The event is open for any person registered to participate at this year’s IGF and there will be live-streaming for remote participants.

If you like, you can also fill our registration form, but of course it’s not mandatory.
