Call for Papers on “Cyber Crime and Human Rights” until October 1st, 2013.

NGO Derechos Digitales invite scholars, professionals, and experts to submit articles on Cyber Crime and Human Rights.

Several local and international initiatives advocate for criminalizing some online behavior, a tendency that may diminish people’s rights recognized in international instrument on human rights. This call for paper encourages a critical analysis of cybercrime regulation from a human rights viewpoint. It suggests topics such as: reviewing the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime; procedural and substantive issues on cybercrime; defendant’s right facing prosecution of online crime; and, particular challenges for cybercrime law in Latin America and other developing regions.

ONG Derechos Digitales offers three awards of U$1.000 and U$800 dollars to the two articles of highest relevance, according to a decision made by a committee composed by experts designated by NGO Derechos Digitales, whose members cannot participate of this call for articles.

Winner articles will be published online, with open access, and full text. They may be published on printed version too.

This work  is being carried out as part of the Cyber Stewards Network with aid of a grant from the International Development Research Centre, Ottawa, Canada.

Articles must be between 5000 to 7000 words and comply with usual editorial norms for academic publications in the respective field of knowledge. Articles in English, Portuguese, and Spanish will be accepted. They must be submitted by October 1st 2013, through email at papers2013@derechosdigitales.org.
